| I rceeived this food processor (or a version like it) six years ago when I got married. http://www.cuisinart.com/ipad/products/food_processors/fp-8sv. I've pretty much only used it to shred cheese. I recently found a bean dip recipe and tried to put it in the food processor, as the recipe stated. But it didn't purée. It stuck to the lid in chunks, requiring me to scrape it out and put it through the chute again. The second times got a semi-puréed consistency (and a huge mess). What did I do wrong? Is this the wrong machine for purées? If it's the wrong machine, can you recommend an inexpensive one I should purchase? Thanks. |
| Try a blender, maybe Kitchenaid 5 speed blender and a Kaloric immersion stick blender. |
| Did you use the correct blade? |
| The metal chopping blade should work for purees. You may have to add a little liquid to blend properly, and use small quantities to start with. |
| Add liquid. |

If you put it down the chute, it sounds like you're using the same blade you use for the cheese - the flat disk with holes. Is that the case? If so, that's the problem. You want to use the spinning blade that sits on the bottom of the bowl.
When using the blade, just beans alone might be a bit too thick, and then adding liquid would be the solution. |
| If you put too much in it will not purée. |
| Set up the food processor with the blade, then add the ingredients directly to the bowl (not through the chute). Then turn it on. Pulse a few times first. |
+1 Yes, this is the problem! |
| Give the food processor to someone who is smart enough to use it. Problem solved. |
Thanks. This may be the problem. I was using olive oil and lemon juice as the recipe stated, but it didn't work well. Now I have to find the other blade. Thanks for the suggestions. |
A little funny but don't be a bitch. |
I thought it was funny too, and that's why I read this crap, so keep on keeping on. |
