Nursing tops for late summer and fall?

Anonymous
I'm 10 days postpartum and am in desperate need of some nursing tops so I can start actually leaving the house. Does anyone have any recommendations? I would especially love to get some tunics that I can pair with leggings once the weather gets cooler, but am looking for regular tops too. I'll need an XL or possibly a plus size 1X.

Get some nice nursing tanks. I really love my pea in the pod nursing tanks. They aren't too tight and they have sewn in molded cups that provide decent support. For comparison, I am normally a c cup but am an E cup when nursing. With a nice nursing tank, you can put any shirt you like on top and feel comfortable pulling your shirt up to nurse knowing that your stomach is still well covered. The shirt will just bunch at the top of your breast to provide even more coverage. I always stick with dark tanks too because somehow I feel like they further camouflage my stomach when I pull up my shirt to nurse.

For nice tops, I recommend checking out Garnet Hill. I recently saw postings about them on here and bought a few of their cap sleeve A lined shirts. They are amazing--so flattering over a postpartum belly and super comfy. I was also able to find some nice longer shirts their too to wear with leggings. However, be careful about anything that they label as a tunic. If you are on the shorter side, you may find them a bit too long.

For real clothing, check out Momzelle -- they were hands-down my favorite. Toward the end of my NIP time (we now just nurse once a day) I sold or donated all my old tops and bought several Momzelle ones. The brand "Milk" makes some ok stuff too.

For strappy tanks I recommend Leading Lady full sling (available, among other places, at Walmart.com) and the Target brand. Motherhood and Pea in a Pod were never supportive enough for me, even as "just" a 38F.

Motherhood Maternity has nice some ones. I also saw a bunch in Kid to Kid, the consignment store in Rockville. Not sure about sizes, though.
