Cheney is a complete asshole - and this kind of rhetoric is meant to scare you. It's part of his effort to maintain an environment in our country in which spending for arms and defense contracts will go unchecked and unquestioned. He and his business associates profit from such an environment. |
Cheney seems to be more than a bit naive himself. He says the US needs to be respected, not loved. Somehow he seems to have missed the essential fact that has emerged over the past 8 years: The US is no longer respected thanks to the policies Bush and Cheney pursued so heedlessly. And as the PP noted, his own business dealings are so dirty and so intertwined with his policy positions that I can't imagine how he sleeps at night.

Following Cheney's logic (sort of like military intelligence I guess), if an attack happens on your watch, you are responsible. Ok Cheney, I guess 9/11 was your fault. I guess the banking crisis was your fault too. I used to argue that was the case and get attacked by conservatives. Now, Cheney agrees. with me.

What's frightening to me is that this guy was second in command for 8 years. If Bush had been assassinated, we'd have been in real trouble then. |
Second in command?!?! He was running the whole show! ![]() |
Kind of like the Democrats and Pelosi who don't want anyone to question the Stimulus bill spending. |
Wow, if he had only heeded the previous administration's warning, we might still have the Twin Towers. |

Maybe Cheney is egging on the terrorists, Al-Quaeda. Obama has a positive image in the Muslim world and Al-Qaeda does not like that bc they don't get as many recruits for their cause. |
I should be grateful for him getting us into a war we never should have started? A war that has been a great recruiting ground for anti-US terrorists? If anything, Cheney has made the problem worse rather than better. |
Cheney wants Al-Qaeda to attack the US on Obama's watch. That would "prove" Cheney was correct in advocating torture, Guantanamo, illegal wiretaps, lies about WMD, lies about Iraq's links to Al-Qaeda, loss of civil liberties via the Patriot Act, etc.
Cheney belongs in jail, and I hope the Democrats have what it takes to put him there. |
Cheney is not responsible for the Patriot Act. Both the Senate and the House passed the Act in 2001 by wide margins with support from both parties. The reauthorization bill was also passed by Congress in 2006 despite criticism from both parties. Many legislators on both sides have responsibility for the passage of this law including Obama who voted for the reauthorization. |
