Is $150 a good deal for a 12-quart cooking pot plus 2 inserts?

Is this a good deal? $150 for a 12-quart multi pot with two basket inserts:

My spouse just ordered this on-line, and it seems like a lot of money for one pot. We also disagree about whether we even need a 12-quart pot, but that's a slightly different issue.

We received one for a wedding present and we like it. It is great when you are cooking lots of pasta, corn on the cob, or sauces/soup.

I would never spend that much.

Go to costco, they sell a really big pot for a lot less. I didn't look carefully at it though.

All clad is really overpriced.

You're overpaying for the AllClad name. And keep in mind this particular pot is not even fully clad - it's an aluminum disk bottom and plain stainless sides. Now, I happen to think that's exactly right for this type of pot - fully clad walls would be wasted here - but you can find something equivalent for much less.

I have that pot. I use it a lot for making homemade stock. They make a smaller steamer insert you could buy for a smaller stock pot or one for a smaller quart pot if you are looking for the steaming option. I could see myself using it more as our family grows or for large events. You could definitely get away without it. PP is right its not the 'full' all clad. And PP who mention cooking odd sized items like corn on cob it is great for that.

You might want to check out Tramontina--we picked their tri-ply stainless steel set and have been very happy.

They have one 12-quart stockpot, not tri-ply, for sale through walmart.com for $45 and a nicer one (tri-ply construction) for $90.

Generally, I think All-clad is worth the price since it is made in the US. Not all of their items are, though, and this particular one is not.

It is probably a very high quality stock pot, but it is made in China, and you can find others that are also high quality, made in China, for much cheaper.

It's Macy's. You wait for a sale plus coupon and get it for a lot less.

I have one, and it's good, but I didn't pay full price for it.
