Was your child happy? Tearful? How were mom/dad?
We are 45 minutes away from leaving for the bus and kiddo is very excited but also a little anxious. |
2nd grader, notorious late sleeper, got himself up at 6:30 and was dressed and had eaten breakfast by 7:00. (Bus is at 8:30). Guess he's excited! |
One kid excited, one kid nervous, one mom cried. |
Everything wound up going okay. She is in kindergarten and I'm worried she will be a little lost and sad at school. The bus stop went pretty great, though I could see she was a little worried about the whole thing.
Agh! I'm worried about the whole thing, too!!! |
So far, so good! I heard from another parent that my younger child's teacher is THE BEST! Unfortunately, my older child's desk is facing into the one kid in the entire grade that she dislikes! Their desks are literally touching. He's been a pain in the butt to her before (teasing her -- I think he may secretly like her). But, she tries to avoid him when she sees him... and now his face is like 3 feet away from hers! I'm sure there will be some complaints about that. The school is VERY hot right now -- apparently they were trying to save $ by turning off the A/C over the hot weekend. Very stuffy. |
DD cried bc she couldnt find her classroom! In K. Why was no one there to help the little kids find their classrooms? I wasn't able to walk her in. |
We were allowed to walk our kids in for the first day. Did the teacher call you? |
Hectic! I snoozed one time too many, had to shower before meetings (when I normally wait till after the workout) and was running super late. Had forgotten to have my daughter draw a picture on the back of her summer reading booklet, and was frazzled. Thank goodness her dad came over to meet the school bus with us, and was able to focus on her while I was running around getting everything together for both of us.
She's a first-time kindergartener, first time taking a school bus (though she's ridden ART buses with me) and she was SUPER excited about school and the bus. Hopefully she'll have a great day so she'll still be excited when I pick her up from extended day later. |
Great so far. We'll see at pick-up![]() ![]() |
For the life of me, I can't understand why classroom desks are set up in these ridiculous "groupings". And the teachers then get mad when the kids are talking - yet there's another student right in their face and directly on either side! Why haven't they gone back to seating in orderly rows, everyone facing forward, with space between each desk? So much nonsense in today's classrooms. |
Our DD is in K and her bus was 20 minutes late this morning. Other than that it was not eventful. When she got on the bus, she calming said, "see you, mom". I suppose it is not a big deal for her since she was in PreK for two years and is used to going to class and has ridden buses for field trips. |
What school? Now I am worried no one was there to walk my kindergartener from the bus to class! (We are at McKinley.) Hope they are doing okay! |
At ASF- all of the kids line up with teacher (they hold up signs). The class walks in together the first day. The classes are called out on megaphone. They have music and balloons. I thought all Arlington schools did this. Second day back to normal. |
The answer is SPACE! |
I'm worried about this tomorrow. I was able to walk her in after meeting her at the bus, so she could experience the bus. But then nobody was there to show the new kids where to go, which I expected, even though we went to the open house. I hope she finds her classroom tomorrow! |
