Feedback on JEB Stuart for bright boy?

Anonymous
Does JEB Stuart offer AP classes? Anyone have experienced- good or bad- to share. WE'll be moving back to Nova next year from
overseas and my son will be a freshman there. Am worried it won't be challenging enough. Thoughts?

Stuart is an IB high school.

In Fairfax County Public Schools, some high schools are IB (International Baccalaureate) and some are AP. Both programs are great for a bright child; however, some people feel one or the other is a better fit for their child. If you would rather your child go to an AP school, he can transfer to to nearest AP high school to your house (that is accepting transfers).

Thanks for this. What would be the better school that offers AP classes near Jeb Stuart?

If you plan to live in the Stuart district and want AP, Falls Church HS is your primary pupil placement option. Yorktown and McLean are also nearby AP schools, but I don't think either is an option if you live in the Stuart district (certainly not Yorktown, which is an Arlington County school).

It all depends on which AP HS is nearest to your house as to what AP school you would be assigned. There isn't a choice among AP schools, just between an IB and an AP school.

Falls Church is the AP school that kids from Stuart would attend.

McLean might be another option, but I'm not sure that McLean is open to pupil placement anymore for AP due to overcrowding. If McLean does still take out of boundary students, I think the only wayin is to have a deep interest in taking AP German. I don't think that's offered at Falls Church.

What are other reasons that one can pupil place into a different HS?
