The President and First Lady made a surprise visit to Cap City today. Apparently they read to the 2nd graders (and probably 1st graders since the grades are combined). I hear from reporters that there is pool video of the event so it might be on the news tonight.

Are they thinking of moving the kids there next year becasue of the more liberal snow policy

Hah! Actually, Capital City was closed the same day Obama complained about Sidwell. So, no advantage there.

As opposed to hiding out in the White House and not going out and about, as opposed to spending huge swatches of time in Crawford, Texas and Camp David. I read somewhere that Bush literally spent 3 of the 8 yrs of his presidency in either Crawford or Camp David. Craziness! The Obamas, on the other hand, seem to view DC as their new home. Part probably has to do with having young kids, part has to do with feeling very welcomed here, and part because they are just so great.
