Broken Blood Vessels on Baby's Face?

Anonymous
My 5 month old daughter has tiny little broken blood vessels on her face. Anyone else experience this?

What do they look like?

My daughter has had little broken blood vessels-- like tiny threads-- accompanied by redness due to contact dermatitis. (Meaning, when her face was extremely chapped from the cold weather/dry indoor heat, not only was it red, but she had a couple tiny broken blood vessels.) She also had petechiae once when she had a virus-- those look more like purple pin-point freckles. These can be alarming when accompanied by symtoms of illness since it could be a sign of a bacterial infection. If that's what your daughter has, I'd call your pediatrician.

OP here. It looks like the tiny threads you described. Poor little kid always has dry skin, so perhaps it is contact dermatitis. I didn't know that could cause broken blood vessels. Thanks for sharing.

DS has had one on his face since he was born. Still there - age 5 1/2.

Diito -- DS had them at birth and still does at age 5.

Babies have much thinner tighter skin than adults do. You're going to be able to see their veins and blood vessels. Helpful for checking hydration!

DS had them all over his cheeks as a newborn. Either I am used to them now or they are faded/gone. He is 12-months.
