Best food at Maryland Renaissance Festival?

Anonymous
I'm from Chicago and went to the Ren Faire near there often, even working there a few summers. People in the know always made a beeline for one particular food booth, the mushrooms in garlic butter sauce/broth. It was so good well known that he sold it in bulk to take home. I've never been to the Maryland faire but I'm wondering if there's a similar "must have" dish as we are considering going this weekend.

Turkey leg or the oyster shooters.

I actually find the turkey legs to be quite dry.

I really liked the apple dumpling with ice cream we had last year.

McDonald's on the way there.

Steak on a stick is decent. I like the spinach pies too. I haven't seen a beeline for anything in particular. There are a lot of options and they have gotten better over the years. Mac and cheese on a stick is delicious

I think I've eaten most of the food at the Ren Fest. There are many tasty things that will sustain me nicely for a day of walking around, but nothing that's amazing.

I do have friends who make beelines for certain ciders or meads and tell me they are delicious. I don't happen to drink alcohol, so I can't offer an opinion on those.

All of the ciders and meads are disgustingly sweet.

I like the soup in a bread bowl myself.

I had deep fried oreos on a stick one year. Very authentic to the Renaissance.

I enjoyed the crab/pretzel/cheese thing. Kinda gross? Yes. delicious? Absolutely.

Also very authentic to Renaissance Europe?

Honestly, it's all junk and either too sweet or too fatty.
I go for the turkey leg myself.
