| Interview for administration position in a public school system in DC. Basically would work with the principal to coordinate school events/ fundraising/ calendar/ etc. |
| Wear a suit. You can't go wrong. |

Dark suit (i.e. jacket and bottom same brand, color and fabric) in navy, black or dark gray, pants or skirt with panty hose (don't love them but appropriate for interview), conservative pressed blouse in white, light blue or pale pink, polished conservative shoes, matching work bag, matching work portfolio. Add a colorful light scarf if you feel like it's too dull for a school. Very few interviews would you not get the job because you were dressed too conservatively or professionally.

Agree with this one. Also don't wear heels that are too high, or open toe. Pull your hair back or up. Minimal make up in neutral tones. ditto for nail polish. |
definitely pay attention to your hands/nails. It's a little think, and you don't have to get a super fancy manicure, but well cared for hands (clean cuticles, neat nail ends, moisturized but not "slippery") makes a difference. Really - 20 minutes and $15 dollars for a manicure (even with clear or no polish) at any nail place will make a difference. Well... they may not notice that you got the manicure, but they do notice if you don't. I have a friend who does the interviewing at her company and it's one of the things that she says she WILL judge people on - whether or not they pay attention to the details of how they present themselves. |
