It's Okay to Tell Me I'm Psycho

Anonymous
Okay. Husband and I have been trying to conceive #2 for about 4 months. I believe that about 2 mos ago, fertilization hit but body rejected. My last period was Dec 31. I had very light spotting around Jan 14. I was thinking it could possibly be implementation bleeding. I got my period Jan 26, which is about 3-4 days early for me - I am generally like clockwork. Needless to say I was a little saddened. I have been feeling quite sick and I swear I am feeling "twinges" in my stomach. I took a pregnancy test this am and it came back negative. I read up on decidual bleeding and was thinking that may be what have been what happened to me. Now I'm thinking that since test came back negative, it may be psychosomatic sickness that I'm feeling - but, honestly I really wasn't obsessing about it until I started to feel sick. Any input? Thanks!

I think it's pretty unlikely, but if it's going to stress you out, go in and get a beta -- hcg-quant. That will tell you for sure.

Do you temp? That would give you more information. Have you read Taking Charge of Your Fertility? If not, get it from the library asap.

If you got your period on the 31st, the spotting you had on the 14th would have been day 15 of your cycle. Implantation spotting (if it occurs), typically is 8-10 days post ovulation. Highly unlikely that you ovulated that early. Some women do spot when they are ovulating, which might make more sense.

I am sorry, but I don't understand: didn't you say that you got your period end of January? If you did get your period, how could you possibly be pregnant? Plus, you had a negative pregnancy test. I am sorry to say, it really does not sound like you are pregnant. There are lots of reasons for feeling sick that are unrelated to pregnancy, in your case, it may be due to stress, you seem like you are very stressed. Try to relax, you will get pregnant, it's just a matter of time.
I agree with PP, implantation occurs about one week after ovulation and it's possible to have spotting when you ovulate.

You need to find out when you ovulate. Read the book the PP suggested or check out www.fertilityfriend.com. If your period started on the 26th, it is unlikely that you have even ovulated yet. It is day 14 for most women with a 28 day cycle. It is more likely that what you feel is the lead up to ovulation.

You need to read the book "Taking Charge of your fertility" and chart on www.fertilityfriend.com (it's free), that way you will get a very good understanding of your cycle and you will know exactly when you ovulate, when your period is due and if you are pregnant. You will never have to second guess again. It will change your life.

My early spotting each month (daily spotting 3-4 days before actual period) was due to low progesterone, which was preventing implantation for over a year of trying. Our RE prescribed Prometrium after ovulation and it worked for both of our two DC conceptions.
