Fraxel

Has anyone had Fraxel laser? Does it work?

I asked this a while ago and didn't get any responses. I'd like to hear about it too.

I got something very similar - two years ago I was bothered by a couple of sunspots on my face, age spots or liver spots or whatever they are called - basically brown blotches that came out of nowhere the summer before. Anyway, I went in for a consult for fraxel, the dermatologist took one look at me and said, I can take care of this in two minutes - for $150. I think what they actually used on me was called it a Q laser, or something, it is very similar to fraxel.

Greatest thing I've ever done! Seriously. He zapped five spots (I had only noticed two but he found three very small ones that would crop up later) and it was bad for like three days, they get worse before they get better - then the spots peeled off and it was red for a few days, and now my skin is perfect.

I went to Dr. Adrien I think his name was - over by American University back in that little shopping center. Just make sure you go to a board certified dermatologist and not some person who works at a spa or something.

I had Fraxel done with Dr. Elizabeth Tanzi/Dr. Tina Alster. There was a five pack package, and I only made it through four of the treatments.

The treatment helped my skin overall - some of the brown spots faded or disappeared, and the texture seemed finer, and the tone seemed a wee bit tighter - but it was a painful experience, even with numbing cream. Its also expensive, at over $1,000 per treatment. You must stay completely out of the sun afterwards - for a few days at least. If the results had been more compelling, I might have gone in for the fifth treatment - but just couldn't make myself go.
