Are there any new or unusual books I can buy for a friend's daughter that she probably doesn't already have?
What other small things do 2 year olds like? |
|
My 2 year old loves books about bears -
Birthday for bear ( very funny book about grumpy bear and mouse) Bedtime for bear (same series) A visitor for bear (same series) Sniffles for bear ( same series) Then there's the little bear books illustrated by Maurice Sendak: Little bear A friend for little bear Little bear's visit Father bear comes home She also loved the gruffalo right around her 2nd birthday None are all that unusual, but are definite favorites. |

Pp here - also my 2 year old gets so much enjoyment out of very small dolls and characters. She will cart them around everywhere and spend hours in pretend play. We started with wooden family ones and now also have a bunch of assorted plastic characters from Winnie the Pooh and jungle book and also dinosaurs and zoo animals. They all mix and play together.

| My Big Animal Book by Roger Priddy is a huge favorite with our two year old - it's basically photos of all different kinds of animals. She's also really into her doctor kit and play food/chef's outfit right now. Melissa and Doug has really good play food sets. |

Each Peach Pear Plum. Totally simple but kids have a blast "finding" the nursery rhyme characters hidden in the intricate drawings. The story is in rhymed couplets, too, so they quickly pick up on the rhymes and will finish the sentences for you (nice way to practice rhyming sounds).

Both my kids loved the Little People lift-the-flap books at that age. They're surprisingly durable, which is key for 2-3 year olds!
