| Would you eat it? It was cooking until 11:00, then the heat was turned off. Put in fridge at 6 am. |
| In a crock pot? Was it still warm at 6 am? I think it's probably fine. Heat it up again to simmering before you serve it. |
| No - warm at 6 doesn't cut it. Needs to be hot or cold. |
| Yes its fine. I would eat it. |
| Throw it out. |
| It should be fine. Eat it. |
| Throw it out. You're right in the danger temperature for growing bacteria. |
| I do this all the time and have yet to suffer any consequences...eat it! |
|
Oh, and as an adjunct to the above - I know many people will say that if you boil it again, it will kill the bacteria. The problem with that is it's not usually the bacteria that make you sick, but the toxins that they make, which you cannot boil away.
If you can't afford to waste 4 dollars of ingredients and can afford a few days off work, then by all means - reheat your chili and enjoy. Other than that "if in doubt, throw it out" (in this case, There is no doubt) |

OP here. not in a crock pot. in a pot on the stove, uncovered.
lukewarm at 6 am. |
| I wouldn't mess with meat left out overnight and I'm pretty cavalier with things like that. |
| I'd eat it. |
Same here. It's not worth the risk in this case. |
| I do this all the time. I'm only sketchy about fish. Never get sick. |
| Don't eat it. |
