Public school buses for private schools

In the interest of climate change/global warming, does anyone know if there is any legal way for public school buses to be used to ferry kids to and from private schools? I have heard that it is done in Pennsylvania and New York.

Wow - I grew up in Pennsylvania and did not realize it was an issue here???? I pass a Catholic school on my way to school and see regular beses there - is this all private school?

It is a church/state separation thing here. It wastes gas when parents to drive their children to school.

Many private schools hire bus companies.

OP: If they were supplied by the public schools, then they would be used.

I grew up outside of Philly and all of got public school buses to our various private schools at no extra cost. However, my understanding is here that the private schools are responsible for providing their own buses if they so choose and they appear to pass the cost on to the parents.
