I do. I make her do it first, and then I go over it again to be sure she got all the teeth. Recently, I have been letting her do it in the morning by herself. At night, she brushes, and then I go over again with an electric toothbrush, then I floss her teeth, and then she rinses with mouthwash.
When did you stop brushing for your child? I had horrible cavities as a kid and don't want her to go thru the same thing. She does a very good job on her own, but she does need some supervision (ie, reminder to do it long enough and to get the far back teeth, etc.) I only have one child -- how do you manage if you have two or three kids who are very young? It seems to take SOOOOOOOO much time and effort!!! What do you do? What did your dentist say? I have not yet asked mine about this....thanks! |
I will brush or supervise the brushing of my DD's teeth until she turns 18. I would never wish my multiple root canals on anyone. And I would never trust a child to understand how important that 5-minute ritual is. I didn't.
Are you serious?? You can't possibly really mean 18??
One thing our dentist suggested you can try is buying pre-brushing rinse which shows up as blue on plaque that hasn't been brushed away.
my dentist said that your should brush/check your kids until they are at least 8.
Yes, supervise and touch up when needed.
My husband is a pediatric dentist and yes, I would brush DS's teeth at least until he's 8. Children this young are not able to brush well. So I would let your kids brush their own teeth first and then do it yourself.
Where can I buy the pre-brushing rinse that shows the plaque (blue)? What is the brand name and cost? Thanks!
