Infants, Toddlers, & Preschoolers
| Does anyone have a favorite park they can suggest with a decent walking trail? I'd like to get out with my toddler but the parks near me are either too hilly or have steep drops. I'd like to bring the stroller but also give DS some time to walk as well. If we aren't in danger of getting hit by a bike (and I love bikes but not running over my toddler), we are in danger of falling off of some steep drop. Are there any flat, fun, paved paths in the area that you really love? |

Northwest Branch trail in Silver Spring. The entrance is off of Colesville Road near the Trader Joe's.
There are also many nice trails in Cabin John Park and in Wheaton Regional Park. Brookside Gardens in Wheaton Regional is very scenic and beautiful too. |

My boys and I love the trails around Locust Grove Nature Center. The trails are nice and, despite being unpaved, I had an easy time pushing the double stroller a-ways up them. There's a bit of a drop on that one. If I REALLY need to tire DS out we park the stroller and take the stairs down behind the Center where there's a nice trail and lots of room for him to run around. There's also a big fenced in play area right across from the center for days when you just don't feel like tramping up and down all over the woods but you can't stay indoors.
We've only been in the winter, so I dont know how busy it gets once spring sets in, but I can't wait to see what the butterfly garden looks like when it blooms. |
