| We’ve suddenly gotten the opportunity to do new countertops and tile backsplash and I’d love to see what people are liking. I prefer a clean, modern look but appreciate any ideas that you share. Thanks! |
| If you like clean and modern, look at quartz. |
| Quartz for sure. |
This combination is nice. Counters are quartz.

| FWIW, I really don't like the above backsplash. It looks generic to me, like something that would be in a model home. |
| Stay away from marble!!! While it's beautiful, it is a horrible surface. It etches and scratches up like crazy. We just sold a house with marble countertops and got it honed just prior to putting it on the market because in its polished state, it looked pretty beat up. Stay away from it. |
I don't either. But I do like the countertops. |
This tiny glass or using all accent tiles is a new trend. If you are looking for timeless get normal sized wall tiles.

Wow - this looks like what they use in ugly flip houses. Yuck. |
This isn't timeless, it's dated. Particularly those diamond-shaped accent tiles. |
| We just had a kitchen re-do and used full granite for the backsplash. We were worried about how it would look, but it turned out great. It was a leap of faith but everyone who has seen it loves it. Our kitchen was more traditional, but I've seen plenty of pictures of modern looking kitchens with full granite backsplash and it looked great. There are some granite styles with big bold patterns that could look like a piece of art when set vertically. |
| The Tuscan look is out |
| OP, what color are your cabinets? |
Yep. I have seen this cheapo backsplash in a thousand flips. Well, maybe not a thousand, but it feels like it. |
