Laser Hair Removal or Electrolosys?

Which and where would you recommend for facial hair? Upper lip and even some chin hair (ew)

Electrolysis for facial hair. LAser is not as effecive in that area. Laser works best on coarse hair and pale skin (so bikini for most).

obviously both of these methods are suspect or everyone would use them. get a wax.

I have gone both routes for the same areas. I wish I could recommend an electrolysis place--the woman I went to (the only person listed in DC as "certified" whatever that means), was a NUT---she recommended coming once a week and my follicles got so infected I got impetigo. Awful experience. I later went to the salon at the Watergate and learned from the electrolysis tech there that once a month is the best frequency.

At any rate, after the impetigo, I went to laser, which is not "permanent" but does work, although if you are fair, as I am and have some fair, but coarse hairs (on chin, ew...), it doesn't work on those. It did work like a charm on the darker hairs (and my hairs were not black by any means--really a dark blonde). For laser I went to my dermatologists office (again gunshy after the impetigo) but having done laser, I think any of the reputable name centers (Alase comes to mind) or Hela Salon in Gtown, or Cultura in Friendship Heights, would be fine.

I think I went to about 6-8 sessions at 150 each session and it took care of my lip and chin, until I got pregnant again......I will definitely go the laser route again after this baby.

As for PP who suggested waxing--I have found that causes ingrown hairs, as does plucking. Could just be my skin but laser did not.

HTH.

If you find a good electrolysis place or laser place, please post.

Do you have a mustache or just peach fuzz on your face (I'm not being funny). I have peach fuzz and my dermatologist said that the laser would be a waste of money since the laser picks up on pigment so the most effective application would be on really dark hairs. So electrolysis was the way to go for me although I haven't yet taken the plunge.

I had laser done on my peach fuzz upper lip and (3 sessions) and really did not seem to work....I had it done at a reputable dermatologists office.
I am considering electrolysis - what is the difference?
I would love to completely elimintate my bikini and leg hair - anyone use laser or electrolysis for these areas? Does it work? Is it expensive? I am so sick of waxing every few weeks and it is expensive!

PP here who did both laser and electrolysis. Peachfuzz on lip with a very few dark ones that would crop up at the edges--those are what laser took out and they haven't been back in two years. Same deal on chin---lots of fuzz (am fair skinned) with the intermittent darker, coarser hairs.

for the PP who had peach fuzz with some dark hairs, are you happy with the laser? was it worth or should i just go the electrolysis route? I can't do waxing, it causes major breakouts
