Need a strawberry birthday cake tomorrow evening - MoCo recs!

Anonymous
My niece requested a strawberry cake for her birthday. I said I'd make it but am sick. DH is having a conniption about me making a cake and somehow endangering his whole family. (I explained to him at 350 degrees things will get burned off in the off chance that I infect the cake but he doesn't understand science).

Anyway, looking for a strawberry cake for tomorrow. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Classic bakery in Gaithersburg, delicious but pricey

You mean with fresh strawberries in between layers of vanilla cake? Whole Foods has one that isn't half bad.

No - she wants a pink strawberry cake. But thanks for the ideas!

Your husband can't make it with you giving instruction.

Go to the drug store and get a package of those paper face masks and wear one while cooking. It will be fine.

I would call Safeway or Giant, but you may have to make it in the end.

OP here. Unfortunately he can't do it. He left for work at 5 am this morning and we need the cake this evening - after work. No time for him to bake it. I'm off this afternoon so that when I was going to do it. His dad has an international trip tomorrow and DH is worried that his dad will get sick from me making the cake. I told him that's unlikely but in the off chance that does happen, even if it's not from me, I don't wasn't to be blamed!

Has anyone tried Flowers Bakery in Silver Spring?

What about calling the Chevy Chase Supermarket and seeing if they could make one for you? I have had a couple of baked goods from there and they were delicious.

No, but if you're near Silver Spring Woodmoor Bakery is fantastic.

Just make one using a box. Wear gloves and a mask. If your husband is so afraid if his fam getting sick then you probably shouldn't go to the party.

I've never heard of something getting sick from an ill person baking said baked food. Just wash your hands, make the cake, and be done.
