I swear, EVERY time I go into Target or Giant, I end up having to go #2. Usually I hold it until I get home, if I can.
This has happened for as long as I can remember. I remember having to go every time I went to K-mart when I was in my early teens. For some reason I have it in my head that it has something to do with the fluorescent lights. (No, it's not all the walking. I do lots of walking and this only happens in grocery/department stores.) |
| My 10-month old just went poop in Giant, so you are in good company. I trust that, unlike him, there was no DBO with you... |
| I just came home from Target because I had to go #2. You're not alone. |
| This is so funny. Doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen quite often! I guess it's a relaxing place to be? |
| perhaps time of day...you tend to run errands at the same time every day....what an awesome post! |
|
DH always has to go when in Best Buy.
...I think b/c he gets so excited with all the gadgets, etc. |

omg, I can't believe others have experienced this phenomenon. I have to go #2 every single time I'm in the Borders by my house. doesn't matter what time of day it is, either.
I thought it might be some neurological thing related to the lighting in there, or maybe the chemicals they use to clean the carpets. |
| Do you drink a lot of coffee before you leave the house? |
| That's really weird. Me too. And I was wondering why that happens to me. Like you, I do a lot of walking so it's not like the big trek back to housewares does it to me. I mean I've had to abort many a shopping trip b/c I didn't think I'd make it home. (have to go at home unless it's impossible). |
| I am the same way at my office which is terrible. As far as in general, I am 100% incapable of going #2 in public bathrooms. I don't even feel the urge. This is a major problem when traveling. |
| For me, I often find it happens when I'm browsing around for a long time. If I'm on a quick in-and-out mission, the urge doesn't happen. Is that the same for others? |
| Did your parents discourage you from using a the restroom to do #2 at Target or wherever when you were a kid? |
|
OP here. Wow, I'm surprised to see that this is common. That makes me even more curious.
I just became a coffee drinker 2 months ago, so that's not it. It happens at all times of the day so I don't think that's it either. And no, my mom never forbade me from going potty in public places. Hmm! |
| I'm laughing to the point of tears. Thank you for this post. |
haha. someone chimes with the freudian analysis. My parents certainly didn't. I'm just disgusted by public bathrooms esp. our target where people seem especially inclined to tinkle on the seats. |
