Question about Dansko clogs

Anonymous
I want to buy a pair of Dansko professional clogs but my heel slips up & out of the shoe when I walk. The next size down is far too small so what's going on? Is this the way it's suppose to be? If I can't wear Dansko, what other brands have a comparable clog? Thanks!

Your heel is supposed to slip up when you walk. I thought this was weird, too, when I tried them on in the store but the salesperson said that is what they're supposed to do. I'm totally used to it now and they are so comfortable.

I wore mine all through Europe. Mine never slipped off my heel. WOuld a diff type of sock work (thinner or thicker depending on the size).

Is a "professional clog" like a "cocktail house slipper" or "dainty hiking boot"...?

No, when they mean professional, they mean professional chefs, nurses etc. wear them.

Oh. So that means OP and the 3 PPs only wear them on the job when they're chefing, nursing, etc?

Ok- 17:01 / 19:44 here still thinking they're ugly as sin and excellent candidates for the "How can you tell if some one is old" thread, but I Googled them to see how these are different from the frumpy mom clogs I see all over Upper NW (they're not) and uncovered this piece of possibly helpful info from Nordstrom for OP if she really thinks these should be worn beyond her front door:

"Roomy fit in front [no kidding!]; heel should move up and down freely but may fit snugly at first."

Here's a link to the Dansko professional clogs, just to clarify things.

My sister calls these "teacher clogs" and I call them "maternity clogs." Be careful if you are used to wearing flats-i used to always turn my ankle before I got used to them. Fwiw I bought the smaller of two sizes.

I had the same problem and bought the backless clogs. I guess it wouldn't work if I were a nurse or something, but they're super super comfortable. I thought they were a bit ugly too, until I had a herniated disc, probably caused in part by heels and bad posture, and I decided it wasn't worth the pain. They have really helped my back!

My heels come out of mine and yes, you get used to it. Also, I don't think it's necessarily the clog that's frumpy (not all of us like to wear heels or Revas), it's what you put with it. Hi, faded jeans and North Face fleece. Try them with a darker wash jean that FITS and is long enough and a flattering tshirt or sweater and then let's talk. Some people will never wear them, I know, but some of us can wear them without being frumptastic.

I totally agree with the PP that it all depends on what you put with them and how you wear them. No, they're not the most fashionable looking of shoes, but if worn with other more fashionable pieces, they CAN work. In fact I wore my black ones with dark wash Joe's jeans, a beautiful short black coat and cashmere scarf in Paris recently. I needed a comfortable walking shoe that wasn't a sneaker, and these worked great!
