| I have a pretty chubby 1 yr old about to enter daycare and I can't find pants for him anywhere! He can fit into 2T/3T tops, and the waist of 2T/3T pants fit him, but the length is way too long. Any suggestions? |
| Gap has adjustable waists in a lot of their pants. Have you tried those? |
I have tried them, the waist isnt' the problem, it's the length. |
| This was a challenge with my daughter (fortunately it's easier with girls because they can wear leggings or dresses). I got good at hemming pants. If you don't want to do it yourself, most drycleaners could do it for you. |
Hemming is very easy to do. We have the reverse problem
|
| I cuff my son's pants. For shorts, Ralph Lauren makes ones with shorter inseams. |
We hemmed, or rolled them up. I'm not looking forward to winter - my 2YO is bigger around than my 5YO! They don't start making "husky" pants until 4T from what I see. My bigger kid is in slims that still fall off his butt.
Stretchy pants like Circo are probably what we'll use when we need to wear long pants again. |
| Cargo shorts that are longer. Or sweatpants that have a elasticized cuff. |
This is my kids too! We've been using the Circo sweat pants that are cuffed on the bottom because he's been at home, but I don't want to make him wear that all fall and winter in public. And shorts that fit around the waist go down to his ankles. Poor kid. lol Just hoping to find some fashion for the dude. |
| I found Childrens Place, Target, and Old navy sweatpants and cargo pants good for my short, fat toddlers. |
| Gymboree has a wider cut on their T sized clothes. I've also done ok with some Children's Place clothes (there's an outlet location at National Harbor). And I look for pants that can be shortened - they'll have a button on the side of the lower leg and a strap on the inside. Roll the pants and button the strap and instantly shorter. I prefer that to hemming b/c my DS seems to keep growing taller but not out anymore. Generally, DS wears jersey type pants or sweatpants with a stretchy waist to daycare. The sweatpants are great b/c of the band at the bottom. So they can be a little long and still work. Try the stretchy waist pants in 24mo size, they'll be more generously cut and not as long. |

Shorten the length by hemming.
We had this problem with our DS. He was wearing clothes for kids 4 years older than him. We did try to make his weight go down (because of health concerns) but he is naturally a big and tall child. Anyways - it has taken almost 5 years for him come to a weight where he now wears clothes for kids 2 years older than him. |
| My son is almost 3 and he is almost 54 lbs! He doesn't eat a whole lot and I have limited snacks and things like juice even though I water it down. He is on 2 different inhalers and one is a steroid which I'm almost positive is causing his rapid weight gain because he has blown up in the last 5-6 months since starting this new one. He is in a size 6/7 BOYS because I cant find anything to fit him he was just in a 4/5t during the winter months. He has always been a naturally chunky boy and his legs are like hams but I can't even lift him hardly and the clothes that do fit him look so bad because shorts are so long and some shirts are too because he's still built like a baby not a kid and he's still in pull ups which make pants and shorts fit weird anyway im taking him to the Dr next week to find out what we can do and if there's anything else medically going on..he also now has sleep apnea along with his asthma..he was diagnosed with asthma and reflux before he was even 1 and he still takes meds for reflux because he has trouble on and off still and they said he could grow out of if he could not we just have to see..I'm just at a loss because i buy good foods i cook every night im not working and I eat healthy and exercise..were always outside or doing some activity I've come up with i just want to help him get healthy so he can be like other kids and not have a hard time with weight throughout his life I struggled in my younger years and it's hard so I'm really conscious about predisposing him to that and I honestly don't feel I have in any way .he eats no more than any other kid his age and he snacks on fruits yogurt and things of that nature |
Why would you resurrect a 10yo thread? OPs kid is a tween now. |
| For anyone else with this problem: 1. I bet your baby is adorable and 2. Wal-Mart Garanimals fits short fat babies really nicely. |
