Rehobeth Beach Aug vaca - help - surprise room cancellation!

So we had booked adjoining rooms for our 2 1/2 and 5 yr old months in advance at a Dewey Beach hotel only to find out, upon confirming the dates just in case, they never booked us on the right date. The confirmation email was sent to the wrong address so I never found out about it either. They are all booked now. Our 5 yr old has really been looking forward to the beach experience and we have been madly trying to find a place that may be either in Rehoboth or Dewey (since it's just a tram ride away) that might have either adjoining rooms or a suite arrangement like The Avenue Inn (which of course is entirely booked ) Anyone have any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Have you considered Sea Colony in Bethany? You might find something on the west side there.

We always stay at the atlantic oceanside suites in Dewey. Our main reason is that its dog friendly.

There is an atlantic oceanside motel and then the owner bought this additional location. They have 5 suites and one large motel room at that site. I don't know if they will all be booked or not but its worth a try. The 2 upstairs suites are very roomy and the 3 downstairs are smaller.

So it really wasn't cancelled, you never had it. Which you would have know had you pursued getting a written confirmation.

Chincoteague? Ponies and the sand is better anyway! You could then still drive up and do Rehoboth/Dewey as a day trip.
Hotels there including The Refuge had some August avail. as of last week when I was looking. I would look for midweek and maybe get 2 Qs, bring an inflatable toddler bed and give up on the 2 room idea.

They even returned our call and came in on a Sunday to help us with a booking when we forgot their office was closed. Then you get a whole house! Try to get something with a lighthouse or sunset view or one near Memorial Park. The new condos on south part of Main Street have a pool and great sunset views.

I also saw a few openings in Ocean City but not at a hotel that I would prefer to stay at. Yeesh I wish those creepy motels could get a grant from the local govt to replace their flowery bedspreads and nasty decor.

Try calling Jack Lingo and see if there are any condos for rent. (You didn't say whether this was for a weekend or longer, but sometimes condos do rent short term-although not in August). I second the suggestion to try vrbo.com.

Also-there are lots of budget hotels on Route 1, try the Quality Inn.

Can you book one hotel room and stay there? That's what we do for a family of 4. Two rooms would be nice, but not entirely necessary.
