Should I keep or toss
Applesauce in a big jar, open for a month or two now? (Is it like a condiment, ok to keep for months, or a food, to toss in a few days?) Pies from Butlers Orchard, in the fridge for a week now? Thanks. |
| Look to see if there's any mold. If not, take a whiff. If no funky odor, take a small taste - spit it out if it tastes funny. If it passes those tests, I guess you could keep it. |

Applesauce 7-10 days |

Make sure you look in the lid of the applesauce jar for mold. I would def. toss it after a month even without visible mold though -- there is nothing grosser than eating something and getting a mild taste of mold. After a month, you know it's in there.
I would eat the pies. |
| Thanks. So if applesauce is 7-10 days, do you just buy smaller jars? My kids went through a jar every few days over the winter and spring, and now they don't touch it. |
| I usually only buy the single serve cups of applesauce. |
| Buy more cake. It's always in between "keep or toss". |
