Anyone else dreading school starting in 3 weeks?

Anonymous
I always remember looking forward to the start of school when I was a kid. I'm sort of sad that my kids have the complete opposite experience. They see their friends throughout the summer so its not like they have that to look forward to at the end of August. I'm also not looking forward to all the craziness of after school sports, games, school events, back pack packing and more MCPS crap.

Homework. I dread homework.

I'm dreading it too. Looking forward to the first snow day.

I'm looking forward to having more time to myself. A quieter, cleaner house. I can't wait for school to start! (and that doesn't mean I don't love, or appreciate my kids)

Yes dreading. I find MCPS generally unpleasant and joyless.

Yes, I love summer when my kids and I have so much time together and don't have so many responsibilities. Hanging at the pool. Watching movies. Going for pizza on a weekday. Also, one of my kids really struggles in school and it's hard to watch so summer is a nice reprieve from that.

Oh and I am also a parent. I'll take 2 kids over 32 any day. I remember not starting school until after Labor Day so having to start school on Aug. 25 is weird to me. Actually, I go back on Aug. 18th. I was just getting into the groove of summer too.

Then either 1) move or 2) take the private route.

What a useless post and a worthless complaint!

You know MCPS is joyless. At parent observation, which is only 45 minutes long, half the parents fell asleep. Kids are yawning, bored and its completely uninteresting. Has zip to do with being challenging or not, just lack luster presentation and an utter lack of love of learning. Imagine spending everyday at the DMV 6 hours a day. This is what our kids get.

My child isn't school aged yet. Dreading the traffic.
