Educational "music" for 15 month old?

Anonymous
We've been letting DS listen to all sorts of adult music since he was borned but I'm now wondering if there are any kid's music we should try. DS is 15 month old. Any recommendation would be appreciated.

I don't think it has to be "educational" to be good...

I agree with PP, I think they learn the rhythms, etc... and that in and of itself is good for them. If you want something more formal, try Music Together classes, we have been taking DD since she was 15 months and she really likes it.

My daughter loves the Children's Favorites CDs by Disney. They aren't "educational," they are just classic children's songs. I found them fun to listen to since they reminded me of when I was a kid. Of course, I really only needed to do that once to get the effect. However, now I swear I could recite them in my sleep.

We listen to some Leap Frog CD that we got with one of DD's (16 mo.) toys.

It's actually not even annoying to listen to. The songs are about letters and sounds.

Lauri Berkner (often on Jack's Big Music Show) is great for kids.

I love (as does my toddler son) Baby Einstein CDs. The classical for night, going to sleep, and the Playtime type CDs for standard children's songs (Old McDonald, Wheels on the Bus, etc.). I am not a huge fan of these kid songs in general, but the Baby Einstein ones are done in a way I can stomach. And then just listening to my son sing them at the top of his lungs in the car is awesome!

My daughter loves the Putumayo Kids CDs, particularly the Sing Along With Putumayo one. If she is fussy in the car and I turn it on for her, she immediately calms down. They are also fairly enjoyable for adults as well.

I like the Putumayo CDs and for this age, I also liked (gasp) Raffi.

We have tried out a lot of music from the children's room of the library--it's a great way to test it!

We like the Music Together cds (we've done classes but I've also seen these at our library) and Putumayo Kids cds that others have recommended.

Raffi, the Wiggles, or check out "classic sesame street" on youtube. My 2 yo loves the orange singing Carmen.
