| I just had my second m/c after the heartbeat was found and I want to make sure my uterus will be able to hold a pregnancy before transferring another embryo. |
| Very sorry about the miscarriages. I haven't heard of those tests- I have only heard of the HSG which checks the uterus using an ultrasound. I had that done with SG. Would also recommend looking at PGS testing. |
|
Doppler blood flow? Never heard of that for uterus.
I did saline sonogram where they inject a fluid in the uterus and do the mapping to check for polyps, fibroids and other stuff like that. And this test is available at almost all fertility clinics. |
| I had mine done at CCRM, so I know that doesn't help you, OP, but wanted to respond to PP's comments that they hadn't heard of such a test. |
Isn't doppler blood flow only a thing they test once there's a placenta (to check placental blood flow)? I don't think it's a test you can do prior to pregnancy. |
CCRM poster from above. No, it's a test done prior to an IVF cycle to test bloodflow to the uterus. |
| I don't know where you're located, OP, but have you tried calling Washington Radiology or the like? Maybe they do it or know who does. |
|
OP here, I did call Washington Radiology and they said when they do the full pelvic ultrasound they include the doppler blood flow--they seemed to be describing the test accurately so I suspect I'll end up there.
I'm trying to see if GW will do it, as I'd like OBs/those familiar with infertility to do it, but the "coordinator" at GW is having trouble even identifying the test without the "exact medical name" |
| I am the poster above who had never heard about the this blood flow test. Can someone please tell me how it is done? I was looking at things to check my uterus and my RE did saline sonogram for me. |
| I don't know where you can get the doppler for uterine blood flow done in this area - I had mine at CCRM. However, for problems with the blood flow CCRM's only recommendation was electro-acupuncture with a very specific protocol. I did mine with Kerri Westhauser (offices in DC and Falls Church). Instead of trying to find some place to do the test and interpret it correctly, if I were you I'd straight go through the acupuncture protocol - takes 4 weeks, twice a week, and cannot hurt even if you don't have a problem, and will relax you. |
| I have read online somewhere that Dr. Braverman does doppler ultrasound (if that's the same as the test you are looking for) during his initial consult. He is in NY. |
This makes sense. Though rather than Kerri I'd go to Yun Brown, I like her better. Maybe she could coordinate with Kerri on the CCRM protocol, as for the few sessions I had with Kerri, Yun was quite cooperative before I came back to her. |
| Can someone please tell me what doppler blood flow test for infertility is and how it's done? |
|
When I met with Dr. Braverman in person for my appointment with him he looked at blood flow through the uterine artery. I'm assuming that's the test you mean. The one that Dr. Kwak in Chicago does? There is a resistance index score that is given and then if that number is high there is an indication to add lovenox to your protocol to help increase blood flow. Very few doctors will look at this.
OP I'm sorry for your losses. Because of how few doctors will look at this I'm afraid that even if an RE looks at the blood flow that doesn't mean they will even treat it. |
