How many pairs of sneakers do you own/use?

And what is your rotation like with them? On the one hand I feel like I have too many sneakers (3 in regular rotation, for different things/activities), but I also feel like I don't have enough and wear them out quickly.

1 pair gym sneakers
1 pair not gym sneakers

When worn out, the gym sneakers become the not-gyms and the not-gyms become yard shoes or donated or trashed, depending on condition.

but i'm kind of a minimalist.

3 pairs running shoes, 1 which is heavy and water proof, 1 lightweight, and 1 medium. 2 pairs for occasional social wear. An extra 2 pairs for the car and work.

I have 3 pairs of running shoes, different styles. There's a lot of new stuff out now about how rotating shoes for really repetitive activity like running changes the impact forces on your body, and reduces the repetitive nature of the activity. Good for injury prevention.

+1. Wish DH did this, too. He buys new shoes but seldom throws the old ones away. Drives me bonkers.

I have two pairs of running shoes in rotation, for the same reason 09:49 mentioned. I replace these frequently, maybe every 3 or 4 months or so? I run 30-40 miles per week.

One pair of cross trainer shoes that I mostly use when I do workout videos at home. I don't replace these often, I think I've had my current pair for 2 years? I only wear them indoors and they really don't get much wear and tear.

At a given time I'll have one or two pairs of older running shoes that are too worn for regular rotation, that I use when i take a walk or ride a bike (I'm not a serious cyclist--I'm just talking about a couple miles around the neighborhood with my kids kind of thing) or other semi-sporty activity that I'm not too serious about.

I have a pair of sketchers sneakers that I don't use for active stuff--just casual shoes for wearing around town.

Just one, running shoes which I also occasionally use for walking or hiking. I run 15-20 miles per week.

+1, except generally not a minimalist. I just don't know what I would do with more than 2 pairs.

1 pair gym sneakers.
1 pair cycling shoes.
1 pair o-lifting shoes.
1 pair "casual" sneakers I might wear on the weekends.

I have 8 pairs of athletic shoes right now.
*One pair (very expensive) for my longest weekend runs because cheaper shoes don't feel as good after 10 miles. *2-3 pairs of cheaper "workhorse" running shoes for my midweek 5-7 mile runs and track workouts.
*One pair of trail shoes with a bigger tread for running technical trail (rocks, tree roots, steep inclines/declines.)
*2 pairs of cross-training shoes for cardio and weight-lifting. I keep one pair at home and one at work.
*Vibrams minimalist shoes for walking, SUP or kayaking.

+1 The outdoors ones get very dirty, so I have pairs for other activities which are not dirty.

Two pairs of running shoes that I use at the gym - alternating them

One pair that I use for reasons other than exercise. One pair that is for yard stuff or things that would mess them up.

One pair of running shoes for running.
One pair of running shoes that used to be for running but are now for quick trips to grocery store, taking DD outside to play and other low key weekend activities
One really old pair of running shoes that I should just get rid of.
One pair of converse and one pair of pumas for casual activities

2 pairs of lightweight running shoes - 1 rundown, so good for lifting & 1 newer so good for traction

1 old pair for yard/muddy work.

I have three pair of running shoes. Two pair are identical, and I rotate them for weekly runs. The third are a lightweight pair I use for racing.

I also have a pair of Pumas for non-active wear, just something comfortable and cute to wear around.
