We are planning a birthday celebration for my dad and looking for a venue that can accommodate 70-80 people for lunch in montogmery county or nortgern virginia. We would prefer a restaurant with a private dining area or one we can rent out for the afternoon. However we would also consider renting a hall and hiring caterers. We would like to keep the cost of the party under $2500. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks for your help! |
| I just had a party like that with 35-40 people and it was 2500. You need to raise the budget or have fewer guests. |
| we may have some leeway with the budget-where did you host your party and was it also a lunch? |
| Get one of the local wedding planning guides (may be online) and look a the ads for restaurants for receptions. It is cheaper to go the restaurant route vs. rent a place and cater it and rent tables/chairs/ dishes etc. |

La Ferme does this.
Chef Geoff also has a party room, but I agree with PP, you may have to up your budget. Happy B-day to your dad! |
| No clue on price but Clyde's in Tyson's Corner has a party room |
| Second Le Ferme in CCMD. |
| Mrs. K's in Silver Spring? |
| We had our rehearsal dinner at Boulevard Woodgrill in Clarendon. They have a private basement space where you can have lots of tables/buffet. But it's probably closer to 5 grand for that many people. |
| Magianno's |
I bet that they will be able to do something close to your budget. At 80 people, you are trying to find something for $31.00 pp. You may have to go higher once you add in drinks, tax and tip. But they could probably work with you to find a menu. They have private rooms and serve family style food that everyone enjoys. Are the foodies going to love it? No but everyone (including the kids) will eat it and they do a hassle free party. And no, I don't work for them and nor have I had a party there. But I've been to a lot of events there and they always do a great job. |
Marco Polo in Vienna. |
| I was going to recommend Magiannos but someone already has. |
I kind of agree (I think $2500 is the flat fee minimum, irrespective of # of guests at Clyde's etc) but I will say there is also a BIG difference between dinner and lunch prices, so they might not need to up the budget that much. I think the Maggianos, Clyde's etc suggestions are good ones - they're more likely to have a space like what you need. |

The cost is too low for that amount of people.
Consider no drinks, no desserts, except the cake. Chinese restaurants. If they like chinese food. Chinese/Korean cakes are good too. |
