internist specializing in geriatrics

Does anyone have an internist they would recommend that specializes on geriatrics. My mother just moved to leisure world and is looking for someone around the silver spring or nearby area. They have physicians right on the premises but she doesn't know enough people to find personal recs for any of these doctors.

I've been watching your post with interest. My college roommate in another state is a Geriatric MD and I know it's a specialty in great need - with few specialists. In some cases that is because of the (relative) lower pay, fewer residency programs, etc.

Isn't that area MedStar? I believe they are affiliated w/Johns Hopkins which should be excellent.

A good pharmacist - or ask one of the local pharmacists. Managing the meds of seniors is a primary concern. Good luck.

I think Ava Kaufman in Bethesda is-- she was recommended to me but I didn't end up seeing her and I can't remember if it's because she wasn't seeing new patients or she didn't take my insurance.

Checkbook has a way to search for recommended doctors by speciality and geography, so you might check there.
