So I live in Penn Quarter, where it costs a whopping $90 to get a haircut, unless I go to bang. I tried that place and, yes, it's cheap, but I think the haircut was just OK. I have long hair with layers, and just need a trim, nothing fancy. Andrei Chreky is $75, which seems like a lot to me. Any place out there you can recommend? |
Try Bubbles in Cleveland Park.

Yes, go to Yodit (do ask for her - pronounced YO-deet) in the U Street area. She used to work at the Aveda salon in Dupont and recently opened up her own Aveda salon on 9th and U (called Salon Revive). She is awesome, and I have gone to her for years. All of my friends also love her (3-4 that go to her). She'll cut for 50 (including wash/blow-dry), and highlights or color are usually $100 more. But she does a super fantastic job and is great giving opinions as well as doing what you ask for. Their number is 202-232-1944. Free parking across the street. Easy walk from the U St./Cardozo east exit (about 2 blocks). |
If you are willing to travel a touch north, I would highly, highly recommend Nicole Lefevre at Salon Prive on Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda. She is fabulous! (and $60, I believe). |
Did you try Toka in Penn Quarter? I think you can get a good cut for around $60. |
pr partners
i get a cut for $35 |
Who did you use at Bang? I used to see patrick at the U street location before he moved to the Verizon Center location- he did a great job with my hair. I'd keep going to him but it 's a pain to drive/park or metro there for me. |
I actually got a really good haircut from Amie at Bang Verizon Center a couple weeks ago. Initially it seemed too short (I'm a runner and my only hair requirement is that it can be ponytailed), but now I really like it and it looks great with very minimal work. (My hair is shoulder-length, wavy and layered and I literally blow-dry it for maybe 5-10 minutes and brush it and it falls into place.) |
I found this old post. I wanted to know if anyone has any current recommendations for a $50/$60 haircut. Place/stylist. I live in NW DC. Thanks! |
I had the worse cut of my life at PR parters at Friendship Heights and I'm really not picky about haircuts. But this cut was BAD. I know that I one stylist does not speak for the salon at large but I in this case, I got what I paid for. |
I got the worst haircut of my life at Andre Chreky - they tried to layer my curly hair. Pricey does not equal great cuts.
I go to Melissa at Piaf Salon on 15th and K. She's a little nutty, but she does a great job and its approx $50. |
claiborne at trim in adams morgan. think it's about 60 (not positive). |
I see Elena at Bang Salon in the Metropole building near Logan Circle. I think she's about $50. She's a genius with curly hair... she uses the Diva Curl method and does the initial trim with dry hair. She's amazing. She's curly too and LOVES curls. I can't recommend her highly enough ![]() |
