Autotrain? Yes, no?

Plan to do that to FL this spring. Is it worth it? My son loves trains (so he thinks), we plan to do the sleeper.
Any adice or opinions appreciated.

I have never done it...however, I have known people who have. Everything I have ever heard has been positive in terms of their experience. I say, if you have the time, go for it.

We've done it twice and really enjoyed it. I definitely recommend a sleeper with small children. It will not be the best night's rest you've ever had, as the ride is pretty bumpy, but overall the trip is very relaxing. My little ones loved the experience, especially visiting the dining car. Way less hassle than flying, I think.

Not the OP, but for those of you who have been on it, how far in advance do you make the reservations? I have looked into it and every time I have checked for the dates we want, the sleepers are sold out. It may be the time I am looking - the week before Easter, but I have not had much luck.
