PGCPS forum to discuss upcoming GWES move to RGMS building

Anonymous
Attention: Robert Goddard Montessori School Parents and residents in the surrounding community

There is a follow-up meeting to discuss the proposal by PGCPS to address a number of challenges (traffic congestion, conflicting start and end times for each school, lack of parking, lack of instruction space, late lunch periods due to limited lunch room capacity etc) that we will be facing with the upcoming move of GWES into the building used by RGMS.

Please come out for the follow-up community forum hosted by PGCPS system on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 7pm at
Robert Goddard Montessori School.

Ms. Sarah Woodhead, Director of Capital Programs will be speaking.

Some of us parents were notified that PGCPS will not be holding a follow-up meeting this Wednesday. Communications can be much better. We parents are interested in fostering a partnership with PGCPS, but it can be hard when we are not communicated to in a timely manner about important issues.

Some of the PGCPS board members held a meeting with the community last Wednesday to discuss preparations for the move. One item that Dr. Eubanks suggested was that we parents put our children on the bus for the first day. I understand that he made that recommendation to minimize the major transportation issues we will surely have on the first day of school. They really should have communicated that to the masses as there was only a small number of parents in attendance. Although, at the end of the day we will not be putting our children on the bus for their first day. We plan to accompany them.

We have always put our kids on the bus the first day and then followed in our cars. It's much better for the kids to have that consistency of getting on the bus from day one.

Last year we drove our child the first day and I followed the bus the second day.
