Does such a thing exist? Or should we just use supportive insoles in a pair of Converse?
Am looking for an older teen with chronic plantar fascitis and tendonitis from a medical condition, who is finally conceding she can no longer wear the cute zero-support shoes she favors. Not sure she would faithfully use the inserts so getting the right shoes in the first place would seem the better option. Any other suggestions for cooler shoes with support welcome. She likes Sperry Topsiders and Vans as well; does not like to wear open toe shoes. |

Sadly, it seems like most of those types of shoes are pretty flat inside. This post might be of use to you, though (I have a pair of the Spring Court shoes and they are squishy in the heel and better than Converse but they don't have much arch support and I'm debating replacing the insoles at some point): http://themomedit.com/2014/06/reader-style-a-review-of-superga-and-spring-court-sneakers-like-converse-only-comfy/
I think insoles might be your best bet, though, just swap out what's in the shoe with a better insole. |

Unless she has orthotics that can go in them I'd say no.
This blog has some good suggestions: http://www.barkingdogshoes.com/2014/06/biom-athletic-shoes.html And on this site you can shop by foot condition: http://www.footsmart.com/Womens-Shoes-for-Plantar-Fasciitis?NavCmd=N%3a503071-4294967229-4294967012%2cNr%3aNOT(Marketing_Category%3aGhost)&er=1 It takes a little hunting but there are actually cute shoes out there for problem feet--they used to all look old ladyish. |
| OP here. Thanks for the suggestions. The Spring Courts look perfect--but I'll have to order them from the UK. Spartoo.net (UK) was the only site I found selling them. The other links were also good--they expand the choices. |
| Spring Court PP here... I got mine on Ebay. There's only one seller, really, but they offer exchanges and have amazing sales (I got my pair for $30). FWIW they run pretty true to size for me... I'm a 10 and the 41s fit (the 40s were too small, but I'd heard they maybe ran big and then guessed incorrectly). |
OP here. Much better solution. Thanks for the size tip! |
