commuting from cap hill to NW private school

We are considering applying to private schools in NW for our 1 yr old down the road. We will probably live on the Hill for another four or five years. We are also considering Cap Hill Day school til 1st or second grade to live here til out intended move date, but are not totally sold on changing schools. Not looking forward to the commute. Should we plan to move sooner to be closer to schools?
