Farmer's market in MoCo (preferably near Rockville)

Anonymous
I really want to bring my kids to a good farmer's market so they can pick out their own veggies (in the hope that they will be more willing to eat them!).
Any suggestions?

Saturday's downtown Rockville

There is also one in North Bethesda, over by where Toys R Us was on Rockville Pike.

The one on the Pike moved -- cannot remember where -- the sign tells you. I think it's Pikes or Rose Farmer's market...try googling it

I went to this on on Saturday at the Bethesda United Church of Christ at the corner of Fernwood and Democracy. Their produce was fresh, and they have some samples. They had a good selection of fruits and vegetables, even though it was 1 vendor.

A little further out in deifferent direction, but Kentlands market in Gaithersburg (Kentalnds Square) and Montgomery Village market (Montgomery village and Goshen, church parking lot across MV center) are wonderful. Both have multiple veggie/fruit vendors, concession stand, bakery and meat/milk products. MV one has Linganore wine tasting and food trucks sometimes too. Both are Sat am (10-2 may be?). MV one has amazing, just fruit vendor and Kentalnds one has clothes, crafts, etc.

Big one at Bethesda elementary every sunday, year round. Bonus is that there is usually live music, sometimes a guy making balloon animals, plus the playground is right there.

Where do you park for this one?

If you take Executive, cross over Old Georgetown Road (headed towards Whole Foods), you will see it on the right hand side in a large parking lot.

I usually park in the garage off of Cordell and walk over, if I can't find something on a side street. There are limited spaces in the parking lot and I can never get there in time to grab one.

This one is way better than the Saturday morning one on Rockville Pike. Other good ones include Silver Spring on Saturdays, Takoma Park on Sunday and Eastern Market (fun excursion).

The market at Bethesda Elementary is a parody of a Farmer's Market. It is a see and be seen place with crazy prices, and many prepared foods. Enjoy if you want but not what I would consider a farmer's market.
