Hi, I just received an email to go in for an in person interview. They want to see if I am available this week. The problem is, I have a total thyroidectomy (suspected cancer) scheduled tomorrow morning and will be out for a week.
I am really interested in the position and don't want them to think I am not making this meeting a priority. Should I reply and say I have a planned surgery and will be out for a week and will be available end of next week or should I say I have a commitment and won't be able to come until late next week? |
I'd say surgery or medical procedure. That way it doesn't sound like you're blowing them off for another interview. But maybe PPs will disagree. Good luck with your surgery; hope it has a good outcome. |

Personally, I would say a scheduled medical procedure and then offer your availability. You certainly don't have to share that information. I would because I'd want them to know that I'm still really interested in the job and it is only due to an unavoidable conflict that I would delay the interview.
But that's just me. |
Thank you both for your reply. I am going to go with scheduled medical procedure. |
