6 year old swearing

Anonymous
Ugh my 6 year old has started using the most awful, offensive language in the last 2 days - she gets in a temper and drops the "f" bomb and I am going nuts trying to stop her. I took away ipad and computer but she did it again today - does anyone know of a good way to fix this sort of thing quickly??? I am worried that she will do this when we are in company or out in public or when she goes back to school with her teacher or classmates. I am so upset

Where did she hear it?

I'd do the same thing you did. I'd also talk to her about how it makes her look to other people if she uses this language and ask her what the consequences at school are for using this language. If she doesn't know, find out and tell her. My child said a couple swear words when he was that age, and he said it was an accident and he was really embarrassed about it. Now, at age 8, he doesn't use this language (in my presence, and he says not at all, but his friends do, he tells me).

Just let her know it's a big deal to you and you will punish her for using this language.

School has been out for over a month. Either she learned it from you or from playmates.

Not the OP, but honestly, what difference does it make? Or is it that you want to put OP down? I think we know the answer to that question. If you are a parent, I'm really sure that your child/children are not perfect, and neither are you. Do you have any advice for the OP?

OP didn't ask WHO she learned it from, she asked if anybody has advice on how to fix this ASAP. You obviously have nothing, right?

This. Plus clean up your language at home, if that's where she is hearing the words.

Seriously, if you have no advice for OP, keep quiet. You can learn it from anywhere. I sat today at macdonalds and two teenagers were swearing! Yesterday, I heard it playing on the music video at a shopping centre. Come on! They pick up Rhee things. So the point is to get the message to OP's hold is that this behavior is not acceptable. My kids did it and I punished them. They stopped. The same for rude behavior, disrespectful when you are a guest at someone house or fighting etc. they will stop when they know you are cross and disallow this.
