1/28 out of bounds lottery info - has been posted as of today 1/28 but there is no functionality to apply online or view application - am I missing something on the site? |
Nope! I couldn't find the OOB online application either and I tried calling but, weellll... you know how that story ends! |
DCPS is having technical difficulties uploading the OOB online application, etc... |
This is frustrating....anyone applying for a Pre-K spot. If so where? |
I've been trying all morning to find the online application for Pre-k. DCPS is on permanent answering service. Good luck everyone... |
Has anyone found the OOB application yet? |
Nope. |
This was just posted on the DC Public Schools web site -
Lottery for Out-of-Boundary, Pre-School and Pre-Kindergarten January 28, 2009 - 3pm: We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with the Out-of-Boundary online application. We expect to have it working shortly. As a reminder, the application period will be open until March 13, 2009 and there is no advantage to applying early. |
Here's the link to the English version. Just used it and it took all of 2 minutes. Got receipt/confirmation instantly.

Is it worth applying for an OOB pre-K spot? None of the schools, except Tyler list ANY spots. Does this just change as it all shakes out? |
Yes, although you might want to hang back and see who actually has OOB slots -- something that should become much more clear in a couple of weeks when the in-bounds pre-K priority window closes -- before you choose where and how to spend your five bids. |
Thanks. I get it. |
Sorry - I spoke to soon. I'm confused. On the site it states that the inbound and OOB registration period is the same. So what do you mean about the pre-K priority window closing? |
My understanding from the (admittedly uncertain) Eaton and Hearst principals was that in bounds families would have priority for pre-K only for a week or two (until Feb. 4? Feb. 12?) before the principals would update the number of pre-K slots they had available, which then would be thrown open to all DC residents on equal footing (i.e., the OOB lottery). That understanding could well be mistaken (or OBE), but it wouldn't hurt to wait and see. |
