1. Ritchie Park Elementary
2. Julius West Middle 3. Richard Montgomery High Moving to the area soon and due to a combination of factors (budget, work locations, size of house we want, etc.) the house we are looking into purchasing is in this pyramid. Looks like the MS & HS are highly ranked (yes or no?) but the elementary is so-so (yes or no?) We are coming from Minnesota, in a district that's at least 90% white and >5% low income. |
Toto, we're not in Minnesota anymore. |
That's what I'm saying. I'm interested more diversity for my kids than what we have now |

Op, you will find some people hate it, others think it is mediocre, and some who love it.
Diversity is great, ethnic and ses. My kids are biracial so this was important to us. I also think it is important for my kids to know and see diverse ses. Academically, due to the mix above, you will find it is not the top, but no less rigorous if your kids are advanced. I like that jw has an IB curriculum. Rm does too but the last 2 years are test in programs. Also, rp has sent several kids every year to the hgc program. You may read that there is a quota to hgc so they have to send some kids from rp, but that is a myth. Negative, all 3 schools are way over crowded. We moved here a few years ago from another state and chose this area for the mix as I stated above, and the amount of house we could get. We looked all over rockville, potomac, bethesda area. |
Nope. Ritchie Park is way over capacity (140%). Julius West is over capacity (108% of capacity). Richard Montgomery is just under capacity (97%). |
