Choosing a synagogue in Fairfax

Anonymous
I am trying to decide between Beth Emeth and Olam Tikvah. I am in the middle of both so travel time is not an issue. I am looking for a synagogue with a strong religious school and lots of kids for my son to connect with. He is about to turn 5. Any thoughts??

I love OT so I'm biased. The synagogue is wonderful, the community is very welcoming, both rabbis are fantastic. The religious school over went an overhaul about 4-5 yrs ago. It's well run and people are happy with it. My kids are in day school so I can really speak to Sunday school other than to know my friends like it. Their Sat morning programming for all ages of children is top notch. I have yet to find a shul that does as quality of of programming for all children every single week. On Sat after the oneg all the kids -- big and small-- seem to make their way out to the playground.

When my kids are looking for a play date on Sat, we head to shul. They may not feel like attending kids services, but that's where all their friends are. I may show up with 2 children and leave with 4 or none.
