What works better in your opinion? Counting Calories or Carbs?
|
|
I had gestational diabetes with my second pregnancy (which took everyone off guard). Thankfully, it was controlled by diet. So I watched my carbs and not only kept my weight under control (as in - didn't blow up) but also had a ton of energy even during that last trimester.
To this day, I don't crave carbs and dropped the rest of my baby weight. (He's 8 mos.) Exercise (cardio) and add some weights. It will build up lean body mass and speed up metabolism. |
| for weight loss - definitely calories, assuming your diet is generally balanced... |
| It depends on your body type. Basically, cutting carbs IS cutting calories -- just a specific vehicle for the calories. I put on weight when I eat bread and potatoes, so it's easiest for me to cut calories by cutting carbs. For someone else, it might be easier to eat low-fat including pasta, plain baked potatoes, rice, etc. |
| Everyone is different. I lost 50 lbs by low carb-high protein. I didnt think about Calories |
Yes, you might not have to formally count calories, but you have to ensure you reduce them to lose weight. A lot of people have great success by cutting white sugar, white starch (potatoes, rice, etc.), and severely limiting dairy. |
If you go on a strict South Beach diet, you won't have to count calories - really. I lost 12 pounds on this diet, and didn't count calories. You might have reduced them by reducing choices, but the focus is on the carbs. |
