I met Dave Alpert of Greater Greater Washington and Greater Greater Education yesterday. Surprisingly, this was the first time we've met. We talked about cooperating more in the realm of education. He is looking for bloggers to write on education topics for Greater Greater Washington (http://greatergreatereducation.org). If you are interesting in writing, he will help edit and get it published. I cautioned him that our posters like to remain anonymous for the most part and he said that articles could be published under pseudonyms.
One topic that I would like to see covered is the experiences of those of you who have worked to improve schools. I'd appreciate hearing both good and bad experiences. I think we have all seen the constant posts suggesting that those inbounds for poor schools should get busy improving them. I'd like to know more about the reality of such efforts and I think such articles would fit well with GGE. Of course, if you write an article, you are welcome to link to it from here. We also discussed the idea of summarizing some of the longer threads here into blog articles for GGE. So, if you are interested in doing that, feel free to step up. Anyone interested in writing for GGE can go to this page to learn more about the expectations: http://greatergreatereducation.org/contribute/ and submit and email telling of your interest to info@ggdcedu.org . Make sure that you mention you were referred by the DCUM post. |

Hi Jeff
It might be interesting to do an article about blind-testing (single or double-blind) for education, instead of reliance on standardized tests. I have looked into whether this is done in education but from what I can find (admittedly not an intense search) it appears to be lacking. |
