Lawyer to assist with Elderly Father? MoCo MD

My elderly father - recently widowed after 70 years of marriage - has been dating a woman for the past few months who seems very volatile (they break up every week and she has left letters at my house regarding their relationship ). She seems to be low-income, and while my father is not wealthy, I am concerned about him draining his assets to the point of not being able to care for himself. The girlfriend does not assist with his care (grocery shopping etc).

I'm looking for suggestions for attorneys / professionals I can talk to about protecting my father - whether that means getting a broader power of attorney. ( I have a limited one now). We live in MoCo MD.

It would be hard to get a broad POA against his will unless he's mentally impaired. The Office on Aging may have a recommendation for you. He may benefit from going to a senior center to get out of the house and spend time with other people to not be so isolated and have more social outlets than this girlfriend. MoCo has a lot of services to assist seniors--transportation, chair exercise classes at senior centers, lunch programs. Good luck.
