| Anyone using this to treat PP? Any thoughts or advice - we are considering it for dd now. Did it help? |
| How old is she? |
| Why? Has the pediatrician recommended this? It essentially causes premature menopause. |
| Is it just a case of early pubes? Or something more? There was a study years ago that suggested that scented bath products (lavender was blamed a lot) could bring on early puberty. |

Lupron is an extremely strong drug with intense side effects.
Are you under care of an experienced specialist? It sounds like a drastic choice. |

Our daughter had to be put on it at age 29 when she underwent chemo and radiation treatment for a serious cancer. She said it brought on premature menopause symptoms. I would think there would be other options for an adolescent. She had night sweats at times for example. I am not sure I would rely on just a pediatrician - maybe also get input from an OB/GYN on long-term possible ramifications. It was to close down her reproductive system and protect it, which it did as she gave birth to healthy twin daughters on the first "real try" two years after treatment ended. If this condition has a social/emotional component to it, be sure the child also have appropriate therapy and behavior modification because a pill or shot alone is not going to do it. |
| Agree with above posters. Having taken it I know it is not for the faint hearted . Do your research thoroughly and ask the doc to clearly explain his reasoning. |

Lupron is a very serious medication. It shots down ALL hormone production aside from a little that comes from the adrenal gland. In a young girl I would worry about bone breakage, possibly permanent infertility, etc. Not a decision to take lightly. |
