Safeway bread

Anonymous
Just bought a loaf of Safeway brand "European style French Bread" "baked fresh in-store daily." This has got to be the worst loaf of bread I have ever eaten in my life. I'm a sucker for white bread so it's not even that it's so far from the real thing either. It tastes like the smell of the store -- gross. It's spongy like a huge loaf of unsliced, malformed Wonder Bread except it's made out of pretend whole wheat flour and it has unidentifiable bits and seeds and nuts in it, so it's just all wrong. How in the world can it be "European style" FRENCH bread? Don't these people even know that France is part of Europe?

Thank you. That is all.

Was it mislabeled? Their big white baguettes are pretty good in my opinion.

Yeah, I don't mind a good chewy baguette that you have to rip a big bite out of, but this is just AWFUL.

On the front it says, "European Style French Bread" and on the back on a smaller label it says, "Open Nature Wheat French Bread" whatever that means. I guess I should have looked closer.

Oh. Yeah. Those are two different breads! The baguette is usually pretty good. Weird seedy wheat bread sucks, IMO.

Your first mistake was buying bread from Safeway's bakery.
