Creepy Ice Cream Truck in NW DC

Anonymous
I've always liked Good Humor-like ice cream trucks. To me, they're a sign of summer. Some time ago, electronic music replaced the jingling bells of my childhood, but that's ok. Hearing some variant of "Turkey in the Straw" was admittedly getting old these past few years, but there's at least one truck going around NW DC with a new sound that seem a little creepy. It's not so much the repetitive electronic tune, but that every minute or so a techno-sultry voice coos "Hel-lo." Probably from China, but it seems downright weird and creepy.

This is the norm in the small Midwestern town I grew up in. Don't think too hard about it. The voice is creepy and annoying, but that's all.

You know, I find all ice cream trucks a bit creepy, to be honest.

Just something about a guy trying to lure kids in with music, lol. Plus, don't some of those trucks also sell other 'items' - I thought some of them are a front?

Do I recall correctly that notorious mass murderer John Wayne Gacy drove an ice cream truck?

BTW, I can hear the creepy music truck now going around Tenleytown.

Why probably from China? Is there where the creepy ice cream trucks with techno music come from these days?

there was one that drove around Columbia Heights with a big jar of pickled eggs on the counter.

ALL the trucks in Takoma Park are like this. I too find it creepy.

In certain communities, Ice Cream Truck is code word for drug dealer.

There's one in my neighborhood (Silver Spring) that does the constant "Hello." I find it immensely annoying while I am walking my dog. It must be their new standard operating procedure.

That's what I was thinking!

I'm a total scrooge - not a fan of the ice cream truck at all.

Probably just the techo-sound. But a lot of bad, creepy and unsafe things come from China.

Everyone should boycott them and say "good bye."

We have the "Hello!" one in Pimmit Hills as well. I hate hate hate it, not because it creeps me out but because it sounds EXACTLY like my mother-in-law.

There was one of these when we lived in Richmond. We thought it was hilarious!
