Things to do in Bermuda next month

Anonymous
Please recommend activities for a family of four with older teens. Was there something you did that is a must do, or things to avoid. I am a bit dicey on the moped rental thing, and we may take cabs or busses. We're staying at Elbow Beach.
TIA

It's been a long time--but the buses worked great for us. Can't advise on the activities for kids-but you've got beautiful beaches, historic sights, etc. Maybe bikes?

You will tip every time you turn around. Beware of the very high cost of things - especially dinner out, even pizza.

I'm mixed on the mopeds. Know many who always rent. Have known some accidents to happen. If you choose not too, there are plenty of people who agree.

Any specific ideas or activities?

August is really muggy.

We avoided mopeds with kids. Streets are tight and wind around. No room for error entering the rotary going clockwise.
Beach. Golf (some nice courses). Ferry rides in the sound/harbor.
The dockyard has a nice miniature golf place. http://www.fungolf.bm/index.html
Cabs will be expensive and hot. Most we experienced (we went last year) do not turn on their air conditioning.
Have stayed at Elbow Beach and South Hampton Princess.

Use the ferries. They go out of Hamilton to various places included dockyards. Dockyards will take you to St. Georges.

There is an aquarium near St. Georges--not really that close but on that side versus near Dockyards. I think there are some caves there too.

We went to the museum in the old navy fort turned jail at the Naval Dockyards and were surprised and delighted by what we found. It is pretty interesting and well done. I also think there is a dolphin discovery there. Horseshoe bay beach is nice and has little coves and public restrooms, sundry shop and beach rentals. It is immediately next to the Fairmont Southampton beach club and frankly has a better beach than the resort does. If you want to walk over and eat at the beachfront resort dining, I think you can do that.

Didn't do moped rentals. Scared.

PP here. I mean that you can take a Ferry from Dockyards to St. Georges.
