The Ferragamo purses are beautiful and very much what I was picturing, but way, way above my price range. I was thinking of something under $400 Thanks though!

How about Coach? They have some nice, low key bags in your price range. So does J. Crew. Kate Spade might also work.

She loves all the pockets, and it's not just a random grandma purse- it looks nice. Not sure if you can find this one in a color you want, but coach has some similar ones, and you can find some on sale on Zappos, etc.

Vera Bradley or Le Sport Sac. The latter is great because it is very light weight. It's popular with the older crowd and comes in some very nice designs.
